What is Chiropractic?

All Chiropractic Care in this office is preventative by design. Although our goals are to promote optimal health & improve quality of life, we are not covered by Medicare and other 3rd party insurance programs. Participants understand that no insurance will be billed or submitted by either our office or the member themselves. Our service is meant to provide non-therapeutic Chiropractic Spinal Care, without regard to symptoms or conditions.
The Subluxation Process (Nerve Interference) is an alteration in nerve flow & function which affects the transfer of messages from appropriate brain centers, resulting in progressive degeneration of the body’s inborn ability to yield its maximum health potential.

Some Core Principles

Picture
• HEALTH - a dynamic state of wholeness in which your body can accurately perceive its constantly changing needs and respond appropriately in a timely manner.

• NERVOUS SYSTEM - consists of your brain, spinal cord, spinal and peripheral nerves, and all nerves leading into literally every tissue cell of your body.

• PURPOSE OF YOUR NERVOUS SYSTEM - monitor your changing needs, and to control and coordinate appropriate responses necessary for proper adaptation, learning and development.

How Does Chiropractic Differ from Medicine?

• CHIROPRACTIC MODEL
Chiropractic is based on the study of the nervous system and its role in sustaining health, and Its chief concern is interference to the nervous system and normal, healthy function.  Chiropractic recognizes that you are either in the ongoing process of adapting to or failing to effectively adapt to body stress.  Viewing these two directions, one process leads to health and healing, while the opposite process leads to becoming ill.
• MEDICAL MODEL
Medicine is based on the study of resulting symptomatic effects and signs, and how to treat those effects.  Medicine classifies observed effects into over 2000 named diseases or syndromes in order to assign different treatments.  Medicine and most alternative therapies are a symptom and disease oriented approach, which can quickly become costly and is often irreversible.

Just what is Tonal Chiropractic?

"Keep the nervous system free of interference by utilizing a Chiropractic examination and adjustments ONLY when and where needed. Allow your body to maximally express its fullest potential. I believe that maintaining a nervous system free of interference, along with a healthy lifestyle, allows the body to heal itself." - Dr. Rick Nash
Tonal Chiropractic Care refers to a refined and very gentle model of chiropractic that is focused on giving you the most precise and least invasive adjustment possible. This is important for two main reasons. The first being that since minimal force is used to adjust you, your body learns to do more with less and does not become dependent on a large outside force to stay in developmental growth. The second gift of Tonal Chiropractic is that adjustments are given in such a way that you do not plateau. A multi-center study conducted at UC-Berkley demonstrated that people noticed more improvements in their quality of life the longer they were under care and there was no ceiling to benefits! This means that the longer you choose to receive this care, the more benefits you will notice in your life. - Dr. Steven Sciame @ https://achievementchiropractic.com/content/tonal.php

THE SUBLUXATION PROCESS and THE TONAL APPROACH

- by Dr. Steve Hoffman @ https://chiropracticmastery.com
Chiropractic techniques fit into 3 basic models based on the three body systems primarily addressed by chiropractors. Chiropractic intimately involves itself with the skeletal system, the muscle system and the nervous system. Therefore, while all chiropractic techniques involve all three systems, the techniques themselves can be differentiated from one another based on their method of assessment and their method of correction.
Tonal or nervous system centered chiropractic techniques are not muscle or bone based but rather focus on the nervous system and the related changes in a person’s physiology. As such, tonal chiropractic techniques look at the nervous system first and the doctor’s input into the nervous system then affects the muscle system which, in turn, affects the skeletal system.
Since all three technique models work and produce good results, why would we prefer a tonal approach? The answer comes in understanding how the interference to a person’s nervous system takes place to begin with. Did the bone move out of place thus affecting the nerve which then affects the muscle? Bones cannot move by themselves so there must have been a muscle imbalance first. Did the muscle imbalance occur first thereby causing the bone to move out of its normal position? Muscles do not think or act on their own so a muscle imbalance can only be the result of an unbalanced nerve supply to the muscles. So, the bone can only move if a muscle moves it and a muscle will only move when the nervous system tells it to. For us then, it makes more sense to address the nervous system first so all else can follow.
